The Dreaded "Almost Walking" Stage

Behold. The evolution of a spawn.

You've gotten this far and managed to keep the kid alive & your sanity somewhat intact. What could possibly be next? 

Walking. 

And it's the worst part. 

Not necessarily the walking is the worst. It's a huge milestone and you can look forward to not having to lug a monkey on your hip as often. The stage that kiddies go through right BEFORE the walking... That's what I'm talking about. 

They can pull themselves up onto just about anything. Your table with the glass vase, watch it. The toilet, ugh, just keep the door closed. The oven, I don't think I need to go into any more detail.

My little guy's current favorite past time is pulling himself into a stance on the dryer, and smacking the shit out of it until I feel like it may smack him back. 

"Look at all of these toys you have! Why do you choose to play with the dryer?"

It's really fun to watch them learn new things and grow day by day. But sometimes, I feel the sudden urge to wrap the little demon in bubble wrap because of the constant falls and head bumps.

Did we grow up this fast?   I wonder if our parents ever thought,     I wonder if I can sell this thing for drugs? Or I can't wait til this kid can wipe its own ass.

Buck the Easter Funny

I'd like to start this post off by saying, I am not here to offend any religion. Easter IS a holiday, and I'm not mad at it.

What I am mad at... 

Is how hideous and traumatizing they have made the Easter Bunny.

If you are one of the guilty parties who drags your child to the mall for a photo with this demonic "bunny", you should re-evaluate this whole parenting thing.
But, if you're looking for a successful punishment, I guess this would be it.

Bunnies are super cute. Don't get me wrong. On the other hand, when you throw a large man or woman into a bunny costume where its face looks like it came out of an extremely bad acid trip, it's not so adorable anymore.

If you don't agree, you are either blind or have not seen these prime examples I will happily share with you. I'm trying to save the children from the fear of the terrifying creature we call the.... Easter Bunny. 

Please. Just buy them the chocolate instead. Throw some cash into a plastic egg. Whatever alternative. Do it for the children.

Braids for Days

Damaging your hair is just the new thing. Between dyes, flat-irons, and trendy ways of styling, it's no wonder healthy hair is so hard to obtain. 

I'm super guilty. You know, the kind of girl that dyed her hair after a break-up, or tossed it up in a knotted-bun just to get it out of her face. I know... Basic. 

About a year ago, I said goodbye to hair dye and tangled up mess in a ponytail. I wanted to let my natural curls run free.

I can't stand when my hair gets in the way of things sometimes. I decided to start braiding my hair for four reasons.

1. Because it's cute
2. There are about 487239 kinds of braids to choose from
3. Easy to learn how to do, with tutorials everywhere
4. An up-do to keep my hair out of my face AND not damage the roots. I want my hair to be long enough to wipe the floor with glitter. (Kidding, kinda.)

Here are a few of my favorite looks.

Pineapple Rum Punch

I plan on enjoying my weekend with this nice weather, as it will be short lived. 

75 today & 32 degrees tomorrow. Sigh. 

Anyway, you know I always come through with the best booze recipes. I bring to you, Pineapple Rum Punch. It tastes better than it sounds. & it's quick and easy. 

You will need: 

- Fresh Pineapple Chunks 

- 3 cups Canada Dry Ginger Ale

- 3 cups Pineapple Juice

- 1 cup Malibu Rum

(But if you're like me, you probably want to throw in an extra cup.)

10 Reasons Why It Needs to Be Summer Again

You walk outside to grab the mail. BOOM you freeze your balls/tits off. Awesome, right?

I envy everyone who lives in an area where the temperature doesn't drop a degree below 60. Seriously. Trade me spots. Asking for a friend here. 

Not only do the extra layers of clothing take extra time to bundle yourself in, but they make you look frumpy & just uncomfortable.

Winter Layers

Expectation Vs Reality

 While my skin is dry and walking outside makes me want to run away, I can't help but dream about the better times. The warm fucking weather times. Brings out the inner mermaid in me.

If you're like me & live in an area where the Winter months are a drag, you can all agree with me as to why Summer is the best.

1. Tanning
I'm a very pale lady, and I crave sunlight. Laying out in your bathing suit (or birthday suit) is just relaxing AF. Who doesn't love that bronze glow?

2. Driving with the windows down
A nice cruise in mid-July is fucking fantastic. Roll down those windows and feel the warmth and nice breeze. Ahhhh. If you drive a jeep, make sure you put your hair up!

3. More activities
No matter what you're into, warmer weather leaves a bigger window of things you can be doing. Swimming, hiking, fishing, or just sitting outside & finally not being a hermit after that long Winter.

4. Statistics
Studies have found that depression & anxiety seem to peak in the colder months, since there is little to do and no sun to make ya feel a little happy.

5. Sunglasses
Um. Everyone looks fly in their shades.

6. Fashion
I don't know about you, but I'd prefer sandals & tank tops over sweaters & boots any day.

7. Booze
Yes, I know. Booze are good in the sun & snow. Isn't it nice to take your beer outside and cookout? Or take a few shots and hop in the lake? BUT, have you seen these liquor popsicles?!



8. Expenses
So much cheaper since you don't have the heat blasting throughout your home. Who doesn't want to save a buck? Now you can buy booze for those popsicles. ;)

9. No School

I don't think I even need to explain the greatness of not having to get up at 6 AM to get the kiddies (or yourself) ready for school. Are you on board with me on the Summer boat yet?

10.  Camp Fires
In the warmer months, the sun seems to never go down. Unwind in the evenings/night time and build a little fire, surround yourself with a group of kick ass people, & enjoy.

I could probably throw you 100,000 reasons as to why I'd rather it be Summer year-round, everywhere. I guess I gotta remind myself that it's well on its way. I'm stocking up on bikinis, shades, and booze right now, as we speak. Are you ready? :)
